CURRENT TRAIL: LEARNING IN PUBLIC

Devin Henrickson · Research archive

Projects with a question behind them.

This is the working center of my academic portfolio: a place for research projects, source-grounded analysis, and the questions I am carrying forward as a biology student.

Research projects

Each project is treated as a record of reasoning. The archive separates evidence from interpretation and gives limitations a visible place in the work.

Featured project · overview published

The Furry Files

Adult-Only vs All-Ages Furry Conventions: Prevalence and Economic Impact

An independent literature review comparing adult-only and mixed/all-ages furry conventions in the United States from 2018–2024. The project examines event classification, prevalence estimates, attendance scale, economic considerations, and the difference between adult-only admission and adult content within an otherwise mixed-age event.

The public overview is intentionally clear about estimates, assumptions, source gaps, and uncertainty. A downloadable PDF and complete source list will be added when the final paper package is ready.

What belongs in the archive

The research record can hold work at different stages without confusing a working paper with a peer-reviewed publication.

01 · QUESTION

Research question

What is being examined, how the key terms are defined, and why the question matters.

02 · EVIDENCE

Evidence record

Public sources, assumptions, comparisons, methods, and the difference between observed facts and estimates.

03 · CONCLUSION

Findings & limits

What the evidence supports, what remains uncertain, and what a responsible reader should not infer.

Research directions

The long-term portfolio will follow the scientific subjects I am building toward through biology.

AML & cancer biology

Cellular mechanisms, treatment response, remission, relapse, and better therapies.

Virology

How viruses enter cells, replicate, evolve, and interact with the immune system.

Biology of aging

Cellular damage, repair, signaling, and the biology of healthy longevity.

Space biology

How living systems respond to unusual environments and long-duration spaceflight.

Evidence standard

The goal is not to make every project sound more certain than it is. The goal is to make the reasoning inspectable.

  • Use source-specific evidence whenever possible
  • Label estimates, assumptions, and scenarios
  • Separate findings from interpretation
  • State data gaps and possible bias
  • Distinguish a review from original research
  • Keep ethical and legal questions visible

Archive pathway

A project can move through the archive as it becomes more complete.
